Procrastination according to Napoleon Hill is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday. Procrastination is the act or habit of procrastinating (to defer action) or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention. It is the act of putting off, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness. When you procrastinate you postpone opportunity because procrastination is opportunity’s assassin. Below are 10 ways to overcome procrastination
1. Discover yourself
Discovering yourself has to do with knowing who you are. When you do this, you’ll know your strength and weakness. The reason you act the way you act and this will help you understand your make. You can’t get things done the way everyone does. Discover your uniqueness.
2. Take a step at a time:
Life is a great teacher and over time I have known that there is time for everything. There is no short way to achieving success. To overcome procrastination you have to take tasks a step at a time. Don’t be in a rush. Slow and steady wins the race. When you rush you worry, when you worry you hurry. The moment you hurry you are bound to make mistakes that are costly. Relax and learn to take things as they come.

3. Focus on the reason:
Ask yourself why you want to carryout the task or assignment. The reason is a propelling force strong enough to help you achieve your desired goal. Also, think of the benefit and value the goals will add when achieved. This attribute can be a change factor to the realisation of you desired goal and the eradication of that ‘Goliath’ called procrastination.

Have a scale of preference. Do the things that are of extreme importance. Focus on the starting point instead of finishing. Without the beginning of a thing, there won’t be an ending.
5. Be sincere with yourself.
A sincere person is a realistic person. See things the way they are. Don’t deceive yourself. One of the ways not to deceive yourself is to not set unrealistic goals. If you put much pressure on yourself, you will definitely crank. Avoid doing that! You are unique in your own pathway. Stop comparison with another.
6. Surround yourself with mind builders and achievers.
These are people who have a positive attitude towards life. People who set targets and meet them. People who are men of action, not passive men. Work in an environment that is with this productive personalities. This will motivate you too to be an achiever.
7. Have a positive mindset.
All battles are won or lost in the mind. It all starts from the mind. You can overcome procrastination if you can conquer it from your mind.
Your mind is a powerful tool that can tame the wildest animal. You can overcome if you develop a positive mindset and change your perspective. Believe and have confidence in your ability. Stop doubting!
8. Set a time limit:
To avoid procrastination always set time limit to complete a task or assignment until accomplished. Speak to yourself you will accomplish set goals before you or that you have propose in your heart to do within the stipulated time frame. Doing this will gradually help you achieve a desired goal.
9. Remember you are not a perfectionist.
There is no crime to allow room for errors. Avoid been perfect or desiring to achieve perfection at all cost, this will make you dwindle and abandon the project. Trying to be perfect is a tedious work. It will only discourage you when goals or targets are not meant. Keep it simple. Keep the task at hand in plain sight. You can’t achieve a great feat under pressure. Stop asking for perfection where perfection is not possible to achieve.
When perfection is not achieved learn to forgive yourself and let go. Don’t dwell on the errors or the imperfections, by doing so, you are pushing yourself above the limit.

10. Reward yourself when you accomplish a task.
Don’t forget success won’t come if you don’t let go of the past.
